Unlocking potential for people once locked away

Jenny Kim’s job title at Koch is deputy general counsel and vice president of public policy, but her mission is working to restore opportunity and educate the public on the importance of second-chance hiring.

“Living life is messy, but it becomes 100 to 1,000 times messier if you have a criminal record,” Kim told Vanguard magazine in a recent interview.

The most rewarding part of her work, Kim says, is getting to know the people who have been incarcerated.

“What I respect most about them is their emotional and life resilience, their abilities to find joy and happiness and the refusal to take anything for granted,” she said. “There is never a day working on this issue when you can really declare victory.
