Genesis Robotics developing the future of direct-drive motors January 4, 2019 min read Canadian startup Genesis Robotics, which entered into a strategic venture with Koch Industries in 2018, is currently developing a better way to actuate robots with direct-drive motors and a radical new gear system that provide a viable alternative to the bulky, geared motors used over the last 50-plus years. While direct-drive technology isn’t new, Genesis Robotics’ LiveDrive motor design offers distinct advantages over other conventional direct-drive motors, like increased torque and precision at a lower cost of ownership, and with a smaller footprint.
