Philip Ellender, president of government and public affairs for Koch Industries, issued the following statement regarding the IRS’ elimination of the Schedule B donor reporting requirement:
The Internal Revenue Service’s decision to eliminate the Schedule B donor reporting requirement is a First Amendment victory for individuals everywhere who wish to make their voice heard without fear of intimidation or reprisal. We applaud the Administration’s leadership in advocating and advancing this important policy decision that prohibits the IRS from collecting the identities of people who voluntarily contribute to causes in which they deeply believe. Transparency is meant for the government, not for private individuals. Protecting everyone’s right to free speech, even speech that one may not agree with, is of critical importance to ensuring the future success and prosperity of our country.
Koch will continue to advocate for the free speech protections of all Americans, as the issue is non-partisan to its core. The best policies will always be those that advance freedom and bring the greatest wellbeing to society.
