Working for a Win-Win

In business, there are often winners and losers. As a lifelong Iowa farmer, Nathan Underwood is helping local ethanol plants and fellow corn growers find mutual success.

If you ask Nathan Underwood about the moment he acquired a passion for farming, his response is that he has never known anything different. Raised in the cornfields of Iowa, he still farms today, also serving as a senior merchandiser at Flint Hills Resources’ ethanol plants not far from his hometown. These facilities depend on corn from local growers to produce America’s biofuels, and make ingredient products such as distillers grains to feed livestock.

Likewise, Iowa farmers count on Flint Hills Resources as a reliable place to sell their crops, and support the area’s communities. Nathan and his team are proving that large companies and small towns can work together in ways that are beneficial to everyone.
