The Green Hand™ Project

GP Cellulose is partnering with UNICEF to provide safe and healthy schools to 15,000 students across China through The Green Hand™ Project.

As part of GP Cellulose’s efforts to help the communities in which they do business, GP Cellulose is working to help UNICEF provide safe and healthy schools for thousands of children in China through The Green Hand™ Project.

Nearly 500 million people still live without adequate sanitation facilities in China. That is almost half of China’s population. This issue is especially urgent in China’s schools, where 75 percent of rural schools lack sanitary toilets and 17 percent have no water supply at all.

GP Cellulose is committed to helping provide healthy and safe schools for children in China by donating $1 to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF for every metric ton of fluff pulp customers purchase in China from now through October 15, 2015 — up to $500,000.

In October 2014, GP Cellulose representatives, customers and UNICEF traveled to China to see first-hand how The Green Hand Project donations are helping UNICEF provide water, sanitation and hygiene to two elementary schools.
