A lifelong Kansan, Gina Nungesser grew up going to the lake every summer where she would go skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, boating — you name it. Even today when she’s paddle boarding or kayaking down the river as an adult, Nungesser is never far from her work at Koch Engineered Solutions (KES).

But don’t expect to see her in the offices of Koch Engineered Solutions in Wichita every day — the environmental health and safety engineer analyst could be at one of the company’s various manufacturing and construction sites across the United States and the world. From upstate New York to Luxembourg, there’s no such thing as an average day for this Wichita State alumna, who considers herself a devoted environmentalist.

“Personally, one of my goals is for all of our companies to understand why we do what we do and what good looks like when it comes to the environment.”

“I like that it’s never the same. I have different challenges every day, and get to look at different companies, answer different questions, come up with different solutions. And I feel like I’m making a positive difference, not only in the company, but overall too.”

Nungesser says that it's especially true for her work on storm water permits, where she conducts training and assessments across KES sites, sampling storm water to make sure each facility is on track.
